Capacity Building and Community Access

COMMUNITY ACCESS

Our Community Access team works with clients to support them to engage with their communities.

The Community Access team will ask you about the activities that you want to do and will make a plan to support you to do them. This could be anything from going to the local library or seeing a concert, right through to going on a holiday!

We can arrange for staff to support you to attend one-off events, as well as provide support for ongoing activities like shopping or attending classes at school.

CAPACITY BUILDING

Do you want to learn to cook your own meals? Are you trying to get your Drivers’ License? Our Capacity Building team will work with you to help you work towards achieving your goals.

The Nexus Capacity Building team make plans for each client based on what they would like to learn and the kind of support they would like our team to give them.

Nexus has supported many people to improve their skills in areas including:

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Money management
  • Driving
  • Using buses
  • Cooking
  • Shopping
  • Self-care such as showering and getting dressed
  • Getting a job
