Australian Red Cross Transport

Red Cross provides transport to and from non-urgent medical appointments, including hospitals, community health centres, rehabilitation services, specialist medical services and social engagements, for anyone with no other way of attending their appointment.

Who this service is for

This service is for people who are unable to reach non-urgent medical appointments or social engagements and who meet one of the following criteria:

are 65 years or older and frail or with ill health

under 65 years with a disability

are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander aged 50 years or older

Cost

While there is a fee charged for this service, Red Cross ensures this is kept to a minimum amount.  You can apply for a fee adjustment and you will be advised of the cost of transport at the time of booking.
Your carer or support person travels for free.

Opening Hours

Red Cross Transport operates Monday to Friday with varying hours depending on your appointment.

Accessibility Support

Clients must be able to get in and out of the car on their own.  Wheelchairs and walkers can be carried in the boot of most cars, please discuss this at booking.

    You can make a booking by phoning Red Cross Transport on 1300 557 549 Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm

  • We'll come to you (outreach)

    Our volunteer drivers will pick you up at an arranged time and take you to your medical appointment or social engagement and return you home.
