Dining with Friends is a free community meal held in Hobart, Bridgewater, Launceston, Somerset and Smithton

Who this service is for

Dining with Friends welcomes all community members who are lonely, isolated, or would just like to share a meal with others.

Opening Hours

Hobart – the last Thursday of the month, 6:00pm

Bridgewater (Dinner) – the first Wednesday of the month, 5:45pm

Bridgewater (Lunch – second Tuesday of the Month, 1:30pm

Launceston – the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Somerset – fortnightly on a Thursday, 12noon.

Smithton – fortnightly on a Tuesday, 12noon.

    Hobart CBD - at Mathers House - this event occurs monthly on the last Thursday of the month March - December

    Bridgewater - Dinner - At the Bridgewater Civic Centre - this event occurs on the first Wednesday of each month March-December

    Bridgewater - Lunch - Bridgewater Civic Centre, Greenpoint Rd - this event occurs every second Tuesday 1:30pm - March to December

    Launceston - At the Catholic Parish of Launceston dining room, 44 Margaret St. Phone to book your seat. 63 265551.

Vinnies – Emergency Assistance

We respond to calls for assistance from people in need in their local community either through attendance at an assistance office, via phone call or visit to a person’s home.  We attempt to find the most appropriate response to meet a person’s needs. This might involve having a friendly chat or it might include providing information, advocacy, food or food vouchers, clothing, furniture, budget support, assistance with utility bills or transport costs.  Anyone can access this service providing you have an expressed a need for our assistance.
