Hospice Care Association of North West Tasmania Inc

Hospice Care is a Not-For-Profit, Non-Government organisation which has provided in-home respite and transport to treatment or appointments since 1989. We are based in the North West of Tasmania and offer our services to people living with life limiting illnesses and their Carers living in their environment of choice.

Who this service is for

Any person living with a life limiting illness can access Hospice Volunteers. A referral can be made by you, your family/friends or your GP, by phone, email or via the website.

Cost

There is no cost involved, however donations are accepted and welcome.

Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.00pm

Accessibility Support

The office is situated on level 3 of the Parkside Building (Strahan Street, South Burnie, 7320) where there is a ramp and an elevator for access to visit us. There is parking directly in front of the building for people with a disability parking permit. The driveway can be used for a drop off point also.

How this service is delivered

  • Face-to-face

    Volunteers are matched with people living with life limiting illnesses and visit them in their home, nursing home, their environment of choice. People accessing transport for treatment or appointments, will be picked up from their home, driven to the appointment or treatment and returned home at the finish, if that is what is required.

    We provide the services in the community. If you are referred we may call to arrange a home visit with you to get to know you better to enable us to match a Volunteer with you.
