Hobart City Mission – Supported Independent Living

Hobart City Mission currently operates four shared Support Independent Living homes, and supports two participants in their own home. We provide 24 hour on-site, supported accommodation for residents with physical or intellectual disabilities. These homes are located around the greater Hobart area, and provide an support based on a person’s individual needs.

An important principle of our supported accommodation program is to encourage family involvement in the planning of daily support for their loved one, and focuses on developing the skills of each individual to live as autonomously as possible.

DIY Dads provides housing for men who are the full- or part-time carers of their children. This program is a live-in life and parenting skills program for single fathers who are at risk of homelessness.

Online Mental Health Support Forums

Support and connection for people with complex mental health and for family, friends and carers of people with complex mental health. The forums are safe, anonymous, moderated 24/7 and provided in partnership with SANE Australia.
