Legal and Financial Assistance by Cancer Council

Cancer Council Tasmania’s Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) aims to assist Tasmanians diagnosed with cancer when they are undergoing treatment or receiving palliative care who are experiencing financial hardship. Cancer Council also has free legal support programs currently available.

Caring for someone nearing end of life is a special and sometimes challenging role. Our volunteers and staff are here to support you, and to understand your needs and concerns.

PalliHub

PalliHub.org.au is an online platform for you to connect, engage and learn with fellow palliative care sector members. This includes specialist, generalist, community people working, volunteering or caring for someone living with a life limiting condition, and best of all being a member of PalliHub.org.au is absolutely FREE!

Speaker Series

Palliative Care Tasmania’s ‘Speaker Series’ is a great mix of local, national and international industry experts, covering specialty topics in palliative and end-of-life care. Including diverse topics such as legal, guardianship, grief, loss, dementia, MND,  and more.

PCT Members are able to access the most recent Speaker Series ‘Dr Kathryn Mannix – Listening Skills & the Art of Tender Conversations’ via the Pallihub.

Learning Through Loss

Learning Through Loss is a free training for professionals or volunteers working with young people. The training provides participants with the tools they need to support young people to safely navigate grief and loss. The learnings from the training have the potential to prevent the development of mental illness in those affected by grief and loss.

In Home Palliative Care Volunteer Support

Trained Hospice volunteers are available to support patients and families at home.

My Dementia Companion is the world’s first comprehensive and practical dementia tool, providing professionals and caregivers with immediate access to best-practice dementia care and support. It serves as a guiding companion through the complex dementia journey, empowering individuals to live well with dementia.
