Aboriginal Education Services

We provide services to:
– assist schools to enable all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people to reach their learning potential, and
– support learning opportunities for all Tasmanian learners to understand and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.

AES works within the Support and Development Division to advise on and develop Department of Education strategies, policies and guidelines that are inclusive and that support closing the gap in educational outcomes for Aboriginal students and the teaching of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures across the curriculum.

We are guided by Tasmania’s Aboriginal Education Framework and our work acknowledges Tasmania’s unique socio-cultural context and responds to the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Strategy.
