Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings

The Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings was established on 15 March 2021.

The Commission’s inquiry will focus on the adequacy and appropriateness of the Tasmanian Government’s current responses to allegations and incidents of child sexual abuse in institutional contexts.

The Commission will now accept written submissions until Friday, 3 September 2021.

Written submissions are invited from victim-survivors and supporters of children who have been affected by current issues in the Tasmanian Government’s responses to child sexual abuse in institutional settings.

The Commission also wants to hear from other individuals, groups and organisations whose insights, experiences and ideas will inform the Commission’s understanding of the current challenges or gaps in the Tasmanian Government’s responses to child sexual abuse and will help to identify opportunities for change.

The Commission has engaged Tasmania Legal Aid to assist people with preparing their submissions. If you require assistance to make a submission, please contact the Commission.
